New Jersey offers up to $6,500 in property tax relief

The New Jersey government is offering property tax relief benefits of up to $6,500 for eligible residents, with an application deadline of November 2, 2026. The relief is distributed through three primary state programs: ANCHOR, Senior Freeze, and Stay NJ.

The ANCHOR program provides disbursements of up to $1,500 to homeowners and eligible renters with gross incomes up to $150,000. The Stay NJ initiative offers rebates of up to 50% on primary residence taxes, capped at $6,500 annually for households earning $100,000 or less.

Seniors aged 65 and older, as well as individuals with disabilities, may need to manually submit the combined PAS-1 form via digital or physical mail. While some residents may receive automatic confirmations for ANCHOR, others must verify their status or complete additional paperwork. Payments are scheduled to begin distribution in February and May of 2027.
