New Jersey residents report increase in large spider webs

Residents in New Jersey have reported a sudden increase in the visibility of large spider webs across yards, porches, and gardens. While the appearance may seem like a sudden explosion of spiders, the phenomenon is linked to the natural life cycle of the arachnids.

Spiders have been active throughout the spring and summer months, growing in size during the warmer weather. By late August and September, they reach a stage in their life cycle where they are significantly larger and capable of constructing much larger, more noticeable webs.
