New Jersey shore tourism features nostalgic scents and parking challenges
Summer visitors to the New Jersey shore experience a mix of nostalgic sensory experiences and logistical challenges. Common scents associated with the region include salty ocean air, suntan lotion, funnel cakes, boardwalk fries, and fresh pine from the Pine Barrens.
However, seasonal tourism also brings significant parking difficulties. A survey of over 3,000 people conducted by Muney Law identified Sandy Hook and Island Beach State Park as locations where summer parking is particularly difficult. Visitors at Island Beach State Park frequently encounter capacity closures at the entrance, while Sandy Hook is noted for the difficulty of finding available spaces within its lots.
