New Jersey Towns Ranked Among Loudest and Quietest in U.S
A recent analysis identified New Jersey as home to both one of the nation’s loudest and one of its quietest towns. The city of Elizabeth was cited as the 17th loudest place in America, with 7.28% of residents exposed to noise levels above 60 dB; the country’s highest exposure, 18.17%, occurs in Denver, Colorado.
Conversely, Lakewood in Ocean County earned a spot among the three quietest towns in the United States, offering residents a notably low‑noise environment that supports better sleep. The study highlighted the town’s family‑friendly amenities as contributing factors to its low ambient sound levels.
