New Jersey voters reject self‑service gas as QuickChek tops state’s favorite station
A Fairleigh Dickinson University poll finds that 64% of New Jersey voters want to keep the state’s ban on self‑service gasoline, while only 24% support allowing drivers to pump their own fuel. Support is strongest among women (74%) and younger voters under 30 (68%). The poll notes that demographic differences are linked more to age and gender than party affiliation.
Separately, a Hartley Law study of Google Trends data identified QuickChek as the only gas‑station chain chosen as the favorite in New Jersey, making the state the sole market to pick the regional brand. The same research showed Häagen‑Dazs ice cream as the most‑searched gas‑station snack in the state.
