New Jersey Youth Prison Murder Charge Filed Against Inmate

Trevor Banton, a 23‑year‑old inmate from East Orange, has been charged with first‑degree murder for the death of 24‑year‑old Yasin Sellers at the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Chesterfield, New Jersey. Officers found Sellers dead on the gym floor after a religious service on July 17. Prosecutors say Banton, already serving a 42‑ to 60‑month sentence for aggravated assault, fatally assaulted Sellers and was formally charged on July 21.
