New judicial facilities inaugurated in Caldas and Três Lagoas
New judicial infrastructure has been launched in the Brazilian municipalities of Caldas and Três Lagoas to improve legal services and accommodate growing regional demands.
In Caldas, Minas Gerais, the new Lopes da Costa Forum was inaugurated. The approximately 800 square meter facility was built on land donated by the municipality and is part of the Minas Gerais Court of Justice (TJMG) Works Acceleration Plan. The new headquarters aims to provide better working conditions for magistrates and staff while offering more accessible and comfortable service to the approximately 14,600 residents of the Comarca, which includes the districts of Laranjeiras de Caldas, Santana de Caldas, and São Pedro de Caldas.
In Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul, a second Federal Court unit is being established. This marks the first expansion of the local Federal Forum since 1999. The new unit will serve a jurisdiction of 11 municipalities, covering a population of approximately 354,000 people according to 2022 Census data. The expansion was prompted by regional economic and population growth, as well as an increase in judicial demands, particularly regarding social security and federal crimes.
