New Kio celebrates the Synaxis of the Saints of Kio

The Synaxis of the Saints of Kio was celebrated in New Kio, Argolis, with a festive Hierarchical Divine Liturgy led by Metropolitan Nektarios of Argolis. The event, attended by many faithful, was organized in collaboration with the local parish and the Municipality of Argos-Mykines to honor saints connected to the historical Kio in Asia Minor.

The religious feast commemorates several figures, including Saint Eustathius, Bishop of Kio, and martyrs such as Ignatius, Macarius the New, and Athanasius. The celebration is historically linked to the Seventh Ecumenical Council held in Nicaea, which addressed the restoration of holy icons. The tradition maintains the memory of the historical Metropolis of Nicaea, which was based in Kio from the 16th century until the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
