New Landscape festival to launch in Bucharest
The New Landscape festival, a new event dedicated to the intersection of art, science, nature, and film, is set to launch in Bucharest from October 21 to 25. The theme for the inaugural edition is ‘Contamination,’ exploring contemporary landscapes as living, vulnerable, and constantly transforming organisms under biological, climatic, and economic pressures.
Initiator Ovidiu Daneș explains that the theme uses ‘Contamination’ not merely to denote environmental degradation, but as a concept describing circulation, interference, and transformation within hybrid territories where nature and human intervention overlap. The festival will feature scientific research, contemporary art, and experimental cinematography.
Special guests include Hungarian researcher Márton Orosz, American artist Jeff Silva, and Dutch artist Gijs Gieskes. The event also marks the introduction of the Center for Applied Art and Science (CASA) into the Bucharest cultural scene.
