New Left criticizes Thanasis Karteros over support for SYRIZA

The political party New Left has issued a critique against Thanasis Karteros, a close collaborator of Alexis Tsipras and a prominent member of the Greek Left Alliance (EL.A.S.). The dispute follows an article written by Karteros in Efimerida ton Syntakton, which defended Efi Achtsioglou following her decision to join EL.A.S.

Sources from New Left claim that Karteros is bothered by the party's continued criticism of Tsipras's main party. They suggest his stance is an attempt to protect a new political strategy within EL.A.S. aimed at a leftward shift to consolidate support. New Left representatives challenged Karteros to contribute to a genuine left-wing agenda by advocating for specific policies, such as opposing private universities, halting cooperation with Israel, reducing defense spending, and addressing issues like the Golden Visa and Airbnb regulations.
