New literary and memoir publications released in Romania
Several new literary works have been released in Romania, focusing on cultural analysis and personal memoirs.
Victor Ieronim Stoichita has published ‘Efectul Sherlock Holmes. Trei intrigi cinematografice’ through Editura Humanitas. The work utilizes the figure of Sherlock Holmes as a metaphor for cultural interpretation, examining the origins of cinema through three specific films that move beyond simple detective plots into deeper layers of meaning.
In the field of medicine, Professor Carol Stanciu, an honorary member of the Romanian Academy and a prominent figure in gastroenterology, has released his memoirs titled ‘Privind înainte, gândind îndărăt! Mărturii, memorii, conferințe’. Published by the Romanian Academy Publishing House, the book covers his childhood, his pioneering work in digestive manometry, his leadership at the ‘Grigore T. Popa’ University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iași, and his contributions to international medical organizations.
