New literary releases feature mystery series and social dramas

Recent literary recommendations highlight a diverse range of new book releases, spanning mystery, social commentary, and psychological drama.

Publisher Znanje is promoting the “Murder Most Unladylike” series by Robin Stevens. The first installment follows Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong as they form a secret detective society at Deepdean boarding school, while the second, “Arsenic for Tea,” involves a murder during a family gathering at Fallingford.

Literary critic Jagna Pogačnik recommends “Očekivanja” (Expectations) by Slovenian author Anja Mugerli, published by Ljevak. The novel explores the psychological and social complexities of the desire for a child and the experience of medically assisted reproduction. It examines themes of female identity, societal expectations, and the emotional toll on partners during the process.
