New Malatang specialty restaurants opening in Matsuyama and Akiruno

Several new Malatang specialty restaurants are opening in Japan. In Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, the Chinese brand Xiaogu Jiejie Malatang is scheduled to open in the Gintengai shopping district on August 18, 2026. Customers can customize their bowls by selecting various ingredients such as vegetables, meat, and seafood to be served in spicy Sichuan-style, tomato, or bone broth. The shop will also offer Malaxiangguo, a dry spicy hot pot.

In Akiruno, Tokyo, a new Malatang specialty shop named Veggie Goo is set to open in August 2026 near Akigawa Station. The establishment allows diners to choose from dozens of ingredients, including various meats, mushrooms, and noodles like vermicelli or Korean tangmyeon. The shop offers both Malatang and ginseng chicken soup bases, with adjustable spice levels.
