New members sworn into human rights and culture councils in Brazil
New representatives have been appointed to municipal and state councils in Brazil to oversee cultural and human rights policies for the 2026–2028 term.
In Araraquara, the Municipal Council of Culture (CMC) was formed following a public assembly. The council, composed of civil society members from sectors including visual arts, cinema, music, capoeira, literature, dance, theater, and hip hop, will serve as a consultative and deliberative body. The council aims to assist the Municipal Secretariat of Culture in developing democratic and accessible public policies.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, the State Council for the Defense of Human Rights (CEDHU/MS) inaugurated its new members in Campo Grande. The collegiate body includes representatives from government institutions—such as the Public Defender's Office and the State Public Ministry—as well as civil society organizations representing women in legal careers, trans individuals, child protective services, and people with disabilities.
