New Mexico defeats Mercyhurst 70-7 with record-breaking second quarter

New Mexico defeated Mercyhurst 70-7 on Saturday, highlighted by a program-record 42-point performance in the second quarter. Scottre Humphrey led the Lobos with 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

After Mercyhurst tied the game at 7-7 early, New Mexico scored 63 unanswered points. The Lobos' 42-point second quarter was the highest in program history and the second-most in Mountain West history. Other scoring contributors included Toa Fa’avae, who threw a 64-yard touchdown pass and ran for 26 yards, and Luke Moga, who threw a 35-yard touchdown pass.

New Mexico moves to a 2-0 record, while Mercyhurst falls to 0-3.
