New Mexico hosts North Dakota State in key Mountain West football matchup
The University of New Mexico Lobos are preparing to host the North Dakota State Bison in a significant Mountain West Conference game at University Stadium in Albuquerque. The Lobos, currently undefeated in conference play at 2-0, are pushing for a sellout crowd, with ticket sales already exceeding 29,000 toward a capacity of 37,440.
North Dakota State enters the matchup as a 4.5-point underdog. Despite being on the road, the Bison have outgained opponents in six of their first seven games this season. The game features a coaching connection, as North Dakota State head coach Tim Polasek previously served as Wyoming's offensive coordinator and held a 2-1 record against New Mexico during his tenure there.
University officials and students suggest the high level of interest is driven by the team's recent performance and the popularity of Head Coach Jason Eck. The matchup is expected to be one of the most well-attended games for the Lobos in nearly two decades.
