New Order keyboardist Gillian Gilbert announces cancer diagnosis

Gillian Gilbert, the keyboardist and guitarist for New Order, has announced that she is living with cancer. The 65-year-old musician shared the news via Instagram to correct a misunderstanding stemming from a recent interview with her husband and bandmate, drummer Stephen Morris.

In an earlier interview with Rolling Stone, Morris had mentioned a serious health issue that prevented him from traveling abroad for extended periods. Gilbert clarified that while Morris is well, she is the one undergoing treatment. She noted that the confusion was understandable but wanted to ensure the correct information was shared with fans.

Gilbert, who has been a member of New Order since its formation following the death of Joy Division, previously underwent successful treatment for breast cancer in 2007. She has requested privacy from the public as she continues her current medical treatment.
