New Orleans man arrested for arson under I-10 overpass

A man has been arrested following a fire beneath the eastbound I-10 overpass at Crowder Boulevard in New Orleans. The State Fire Marshal's Office identified 42-year-old Isaac Lee Washington as the suspect.

Washington faces charges of simple arson and resisting a police officer with force or violence. Officials noted that a fire in such a location could have resulted in major ramifications, including the closure of the interstate highway.

Department of Public Safety Principal Assistant Chief Bryan Adams stated that Louisiana investigators are currently solving arson cases and making arrests at twice the national average.
