New Orleans pursues major sporting event hosting bids

New Orleans is actively seeking to host several high-profile international and national sporting events. Mayor Helena Moreno, alongside business leader and New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson, is working to position the city as a potential future host for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. This effort follows a trip by the Mayor to Paris, France, and includes a visit to Paris, Kentucky.

Additionally, the city has emerged as a finalist in the NCAA selection process to host both the Men’s and Women’s Final Four championships for the period spanning 2032 through 2036. New Orleans has a significant history of hosting these events, having hosted the Men’s Final Four six times and the Women’s Final Four three times. The NCAA is expected to announce the final host cities in July 2027.
