New Orleans Saints manage roster changes and injury settlements

The New Orleans Saints are making roster adjustments ahead of Week 1, including reaching injury settlements with running back Devin Neal and edge rusher Michael Heldman. These settlements allow the team to move on from the injured players while providing them with pay for the duration of their expected absence, after which they become free agents. The team retains the ability to re-sign both players once the settlement period and a subsequent three-week window have passed.

Separately, former Saints players Marshon Lattimore and Brandin Cooks remain unsigned free agents as the NFL season approaches. Lattimore, a cornerback, is recovering from a torn ACL suffered while with the Washington Commanders, which may be impacting his availability. Cooks, a wide receiver who finished last season with the Buffalo Bills, also remains on the open market.
