New Orleans Saints put wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk on reserve/retired list

The New Orleans Saints placed 24‑year‑old wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk on the NFL reserve/retired list on August 2, 2026, ending his brief professional career. Polk, a second‑round pick (37th overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft selected by the New England Patriots, appeared in 15 games as a rookie, recording 12 receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the entire 2025 season.

The Patriots traded Polk to the Saints in September 2025, sending a 2028 seventh‑round pick while receiving a 2027 sixth‑round pick in return. He missed the 2025 season with the injury and never played a regular‑season snap for New Orleans. No public reason for his retirement was provided. In college, Polk starred at the University of Washington, posting 69 catches for 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns in the 2023 season that helped the Huskies reach the College Football Playoff championship game.
