New Orleans Saints Restructure Alvin Kamara Contract Amid Trade Talk

The New Orleans Saints and running back Alvin Kamara restructured his contract for the 2026 season, lowering his base salary to $6 million with incentives that could bring total earnings to $8.5 million. Kamara’s agent, Brad Cicala, said the goal is for Kamara to remain with the Saints and retire as a member of the team.

The restructuring follows the Saints’ signing of former Jaguars back Travis Etienne Jr. to a four‑year, $48 million deal, which pushed the team’s 2026 cap hit to $21 million before Kamara’s new terms. While the new deal quiets immediate speculation about Kamara’s future, General Manager Mickey Loomis has indicated the team is open to moving him, and trade rumors have linked him to several NFL clubs. Kamara, 30, posted his least productive season last year with 471 rushing yards, one touchdown and 33 receptions for 186 yards.

The Saints appear to be seeking draft capital and cap flexibility, with potential trade compensation projected as a mid‑round pick and a later selection.
