New Orleans woman killed while rescuing neighbor from overturned car

Ka’Sheena Daniels, a 31-year-old New Orleans woman, was killed on Interstate 10 after stopping to rescue a neighbor from an overturned vehicle. According to authorities and witnesses, the initial incident involved a speeding vehicle that flipped on the westbound interstate near Elysian Fields Avenue.

After Daniels and other motorists stopped to assist, a secondary vehicle struck the stationary cars at the scene. The impact knocked Daniels off an elevated highway overpass. While several people were injured in the chain-reaction crash, Daniels was the only fatality.

Friends noted that Daniels had been preparing to enter paramedic school, reflecting her lifelong instinct to help others. She leaves behind an adopted son.
