John Boadu elected National Chairman of Ghana's NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected new national leadership following its National Delegates Conference in Kumasi. John Boadu emerged as the new National Chairman with 2,888 votes, defeating Boakye Agyarko and Paul Afoko. Justin Frimpong Kodua was re-elected as General Secretary. Other elected officers include Henry Nana Boakye, Nana Akomea, and Kojo Fosu Boadu as Vice Chairpersons, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover as National Organiser, and Alfred Kojo Thompson as National Treasurer.

Following the election, the new leadership paid a courtesy call to former President John Agyekum Kufuor to seek guidance. While some party members in Takoradi have welcomed the results as an opportunity to rebuild for the 2028 elections, the election of Kwadwo Fosu Boadu (Kojo Bamba) as 1st Vice Chairman has sparked debate due to his past involvement in political vigilantism.

Members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have criticized the new leadership, with some arguing the NPP cannot recover from its 2024 electoral defeat under the current executives. NPP representatives have dismissed these claims, emphasizing the importance of internal democracy and unity.
