New Patriotic Party NPP elections Ghana politics national delegates conference John Boadu

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected a new set of national executives following a delegates' conference held on October 3, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The elections, which involved over 7,000 delegates, serve as a foundational step for the party's preparations for the 2028 general elections.

Key leadership changes include the election of John Boadu as National Chairman and Justin Kodua Frimpong as General Secretary. Hawa Koomson was elected National Women’s Organiser, while Nii Kwartei Titus Glover took the role of National Organiser. The new leadership recently paid a courtesy call to former President John Agyekum Kufuor to seek guidance.

The conference also saw significant upsets for several established figures. In the National Youth Organiser race, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu secured victory with 1,550 votes, while former candidate Alfred Ababio Kumi received only 25 votes. Additionally, former National Petroleum Authority chief Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid narrowly missed a national vice-chairmanship seat, losing to Nana Akomea by 31 votes.
