Regional expansion of childcare and healthcare infrastructure in Southeast Europe

Various municipalities and regional institutions across Southeast Europe are expanding childcare and healthcare infrastructure to support young families and improve community services.

In Croatia, several major projects have been completed or funded. A new kindergarten in Rukavac provides 96 new spots with modern, energy-efficient facilities. In Virovitica, the ‘Cvrčak’ kindergarten opened with 205 new places following a 5 million euro investment. Additionally, the Đurmanec branch of the Đurmanec Kindergarten has opened to accommodate approximately 80 children with specialized sensory integration rooms. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the city of Livno received 240,000 euros from the Croatian government to continue the construction of the ‘Pčelice’ kindergarten and improve water networks in Lusnić.

In Slovenia, the Ribnica Health Center opened modernized pediatric and school dispensary spaces following a 250,000 euro renovation. In Bulgaria, the ‘Zdravets’ kindergarten in Bansko received a renovated playground and outdoor space funded by the state budget. Meanwhile, in Serbia, the ‘Naša radost’ institution in Subotica addressed capacity concerns, noting that most children will be placed once energy efficiency renovations at the ‘Šumica’ facility are complete. In Montenegro, the ‘Sofija Klikovac’ preschool institution opened two new units, ‘Đepeto’ and ‘Poletarac’, to increase capacity and improve educational standards.
