New presidents appointed to Italian Lions Clubs for 2026‑27

Anna Turrisi, a health professional with degrees in nursing and psychology and currently employed by the ASL of Grottaglie, was elected president of the Lions Club Ceglie Messapica Alto Salento for the 2026‑27 lionistic year. Her programme emphasizes solidarity, youth, health, inclusion and support for families, with projects such as charitable services for school‑age children, food aid, health‑screening campaigns, scholarships and initiatives to promote women’s contributions to the community.

Massimiliano Venta was installed as president of the Lions Club L’Aquila for the same period during the traditional "Passaggio del Martelletto" ceremony. He highlighted priorities that include backing the city’s designation as Italian Capital of Culture 2026, new heritage‑preservation services, and continued community‑aid activities such as food and pharmaceutical banks. The club will also mark its 70th anniversary, reflecting on its history and reaffirming its service motto, "Where there is a need, there is a Lion." Both clubs aim to strengthen local presence through concrete actions that respond to community needs.
