New psychological horror game demos launch on Steam

Two new psychological horror titles, PENANCE and Encryption, have released playable demos on Steam as part of the Steam Scream V Fest.

Developed by Furistic Studio and published by Kitsundie Tales, PENANCE follows a former ranger named Calen in a world where humanity's hopes for salvation have turned sinister. The game features atmospheric exploration and narrative-driven gameplay, with a full release planned for late February 2027. The demo will remain available until the next Steam Next Fest.

Encryption, developed by the Italian studio Digital Lighthouse Games, is set in the ancient city of Matera. The story follows Leonardo, a father searching for his missing daughter amidst devastating fires in Southern Italy. The first-person horror experience focuses on psychological tension, environmental puzzles, and survival. This demo is available from October 26 to November 2, 2026.
