New Radicals debut first original song in 28 years, “One Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!)”

Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois, the two permanent members of 1990s pop‑rock band New Radicals, released “One Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!)” on July 31, 2024. It is the first original track credited to the group since their 1998 album *Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too* and the 1999 split. The piano‑driven pop‑rock song serves as the theme for the upcoming romantic‑comedy film *One Night Only*, starring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner, which is slated for U.S. release on August 7.

The band, best known for the 1998 hit “You Get What You Give,” briefly reunited for a performance at President Joe Biden’s virtual inauguration parade in 2021 and has since issued new versions of older songs. The new single was co‑written and performed by Alexander, Brisebois and Nick Lashley, and it marks the first newly recorded New Radicals material in 28 years.
