New reading clubs launched in Zeist and Leiden

New literary initiatives are expanding in the Netherlands, including a specialized reading club in Zeist and various reading and listening clubs in Leiden.

In Zeist, Literair Zeist has introduced a ‘reading club with the author’ concept. The inaugural session featured author Eva Posthuma de Boer discussing her book ‘Omdat ik je zie’. Unlike traditional book presentations where spoilers are avoided, this club requires participants to have already read the book, allowing for deep, unrestricted discussions regarding research, personal experiences, and themes such as grief.

In Leiden, Senia is organizing an introductory meeting on November 12, 2026, for its reading and listening clubs. Senia provides curated book lists and reading guides containing background information and discussion questions. The clubs cover diverse genres, including modern literature, classics, history, and philosophy, with specific groups dedicated to English, French, and German literature. Additionally, Senia offers listening clubs focused on discussing various musical genres.
