New recreational spaces open in Heist and Haaltert

New public recreational spaces have been inaugurated in two Belgian locations. In Heist, a new outdoor basketball court located behind the station, between Scheurleg and Noordhinder, is officially opening on Wednesday, September 9. The event includes a basketball school session, an Urban Basket Challenge, and 3x3 basketball matches.

In Haaltert, the local government has officially opened the ‘Groenblauwe Oase’, a green space expanding the Warandepark. The project integrates nature, water management, and recreation, featuring boardwalks, picnic areas, a dog meadow, and a buffer basin designed for rainwater collection. The development was supported by European, Flemish, and provincial subsidies.
