New Rochelle police raid sports bar over hidden gambling room

The New Rochelle Police Department Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant at the Union Avenue Sports Bar in the Hudson Valley on Friday night. During the raid, investigators discovered a private room in the back of the establishment used for illicit gambling activities.

Police seized four illegal video-style slot machines from the hidden room. The 35-year-old female owner of the bar, a resident of New Rochelle, was arrested and charged with one count of promoting gambling and four counts of possession of a gambling device, all of which are misdemeanors.

Following the incident, the New Rochelle Police Department stated that the business will be referred to the New York State Liquor Authority for a formal license review due to multiple violations.
