New science and technology leadership appointed in Rio de Janeiro and Balneário Camboriú

In Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Claudio Lucas da Nóbrega, the rector of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), has been appointed as the new State Secretary of Science, Technology, and Innovation. The announcement was made by acting Governor Ricardo Couto. The department is set to be recreated in September following a restructuring aimed at fostering economic and social development through increased university participation in public policy.

In Balneário Camboriú, the Municipal Council for Science, Technology, and Innovation (CMCTI) held its first meeting, electing Gilson Bordin as president and Fátima de Campos Buzzi from the Universidade do Vale do Itajaí (Univali) as vice-president. The council aims to integrate universities, the productive sector, and society to transform technological ideas into community results.
