New social and transitional housing projects launched in France and Canada
New residential and transitional housing projects have been announced in France and Canada to address specific community needs.
In Auchy-les-Mines, France, a new social housing program on rue Edmond Grenier is being developed by Pierreval and Maisons & Cités. The project will consist of 52 rental units, including 31 specifically adapted for seniors to promote independent living and social connection through the Demeures de Louise communal spaces. Completion is expected by March 2027.
In Montreal, Canada, the organizations Domicile Fixe and Mission Bon Accueil have broken ground on La Maison du Coin – Crémazie in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough. This project will provide 42 transitional housing units for adults, including men, women, and non-binary individuals who have experienced homelessness. The initiative combines housing with personalized psychosocial support to assist residents in transitioning toward permanent housing.
