NSW Premier Chris Minns concludes India trade mission

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns has concluded a four-day trade mission to India, focusing on strengthening economic and cultural ties between the two regions. During the visit, several key agreements and developments were announced.

In the creative sector, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala announced a three-film production deal with Australia, facilitated through Sydney-based TEMPLE. The deal includes the sequel to the 2007 comedy ‘Heyy Babyy 2’. The collaboration is expected to boost the Australian screen industry by creating local employment and showcasing New South Wales to Indian audiences.

On a governmental level, New South Wales and Maharashtra have renewed their sister-state partnership. The updated Memorandum of Understanding aims to foster cooperation in technology, clean energy, critical minerals, and education. The mission also involved high-level discussions with Indian industry leaders from Tata and Mahindra.

Addressing tourism and infrastructure, Premier Minns raised concerns regarding Indian tourist visa processing. He noted that recent regulatory changes have made obtaining visas more difficult, creating a barrier to increasing direct flights to Sydney and the new Western Sydney airport. Minns intends to urge the Australian Prime Minister to address these issues to support the tourism sector.
