New South Wales livestock sector sees property sale and rising market prices
The livestock sector in New South Wales is seeing significant activity, highlighted by a major property sale and rising market prices. The Girrakool and North Pomeroy cattle and sheep breeding operation, located near Goulburn, has been placed on the market with a price guide of $26 million to $27 million. The property features substantial water security from the Wollondilly River and Kiala and Oxley creeks, and is stocked with approximately 1,000 breeders and 1,500 ewes.
Separately, the Central Tablelands Livestock Exchange reported a surge in prices, described as ‘grass fever,’ driven by recent and forecasted rain. Prices for most categories jumped by an estimated 20 cents per kilogram. Weaner steers and yearling steers saw strong returns, with some weaners selling at 754c/kg. Market analysts noted that cattle were in forward or fresh condition due to the seasonal weather patterns.
