New South Wales police arrest suspect after knife chase and shooting pursuit

Police in New South Wales conducted two separate operations involving pursuits and arrests. In Burwood, officers responded to reports of suspicious activity near a shopping complex on Belmore Street. A 43-year-old man allegedly fled on foot while carrying two knives, leading to a chase through busy streets. Officers deployed a Taser twice to subdue the suspect on a pedestrian crossing. The man was taken to a hospital for assessment under police guard.

In a separate incident in Eagle Vale and Raby, police investigated a shooting and a subsequent vehicle pursuit. Officers attempted to stop a suspected stolen hatchback, which eventually crashed into a tree. Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested nearby with the assistance of PolAir. A firearm was seized from the vehicle during a search. No injuries were reported in the shooting or pursuit incident.
