New specialty dessert shops to open in Tokyo Station and Harajuku

On September 16, 2026, La Terre, a confectionery brand from Setagaya, will open ‘Butter Milk Lab.’ in the Gransta Tokyo underground area of JR Tokyo Station. The shop focuses on milk and butter, featuring unique items such as ‘Monaka en Beurre,’ which combines monaka wafers with financier cake and an-butter.

In Harajuku, the South Korean dessert brand Jungnam Mimunga opened its first permanent Japanese location at Tokyu Plaza Harajuku ‘Harakado’ on July 30, 2026. The brand is known for its ‘Veggie Rice Bread,’ which uses Korean glutinous rice to create sweets shaped like various vegetables and fruits. These products are handcrafted by artisans in Gangneung, South Korea, blending traditional rice cake techniques with modern pastry styles.
