New sports and community facilities open in Westergouwe and Turnhout
New sports and community infrastructures have officially opened in Westergouwe, Netherlands, and Turnhout, Belgium.
In Westergouwe, Olympic 3x3 basketball champion Arvin Slagter inaugurated a new sports field located on the roof of a parking garage. The field utilizes the Athletic Skills Model (ASM) to promote broad motor development in children. The facility is part of a larger community cluster that integrates education, childcare, and sports, alongside a neighborhood canteen designed for social interaction and local support services.
In Turnhout, the Sportcampus Stadspark has opened to replace outdated municipal sports halls. The modern complex serves as a hub for both sports clubs and local education, housing two large sports halls, a dojo, a climbing wall, and additional classrooms for nearby schools. The campus includes amenities such as a cafeteria and outdoor terrace, aiming to serve as a central athletic and social heart for the city.
