New sports initiatives launched in New Delhi to nurture athletic talent

Several sporting events were inaugurated in New Delhi to promote athletic development among students and university athletes.

Gaurs International School held the inaugural ‘The Gaurs Olympics’ at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The event, which included students from all its campuses, featured Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu as the Chief Guest and Member of Parliament Ravi Kishan as the Guest of Honour. The initiative aims to foster teamwork and confidence through inclusive athletic participation.

Additionally, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya and Delhi Lieutenant Governor T. S. Sandhu inaugurated the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) - University Sports Cup 2026 at the Roshanara Club. The competition involves 10 universities competing across five team sports, designed to provide a platform for college athletes to showcase their talent and build resilience.
