New Taipei City authorities address parking fee suspensions and illegal QR codes
The New Taipei City Traffic Bureau has announced parking fee adjustments for the upcoming three-day Guangfu Festival holiday from October 24 to October 26. During this period, roadside parking spaces for cars and motorcycles that typically charge weekday rates will suspend fees. However, spaces in 18 districts—including Jinshan, Tamsui, Banqiao, and Xizhi—that normally charge weekend rates will continue to collect fees to maintain parking turnover and order.
Separately, the Traffic Bureau is launching an enforcement campaign against unauthorized QR code advertisements placed on roadside parking meters. These unofficial signs pose risks of fraud and personal data theft by misleading drivers into using non-official payment channels. The Bureau will collaborate with the police and environmental protection departments to investigate these illegal installations and will prosecute violators under the Road Traffic Management and Punishment Act. Citizens are advised to use only official payment methods, such as the New Taipei City parking fee inquiry website or authorized convenience stores.
