New Taipei City educators and officials promote bilingual education through international exchanges

New Taipei City is conducting various international initiatives to enhance bilingual education and global perspectives. In Taiwan, Fu Hsiu-li, representative of the Singapore Trade Office in Taipei, visited Qingshan Elementary and Junior High School as part of the “Ambassador Campus Lecture” series. She shared insights on Singapore’s multicultural society, history, and bilingual policies with students and teachers to encourage international exploration.

Simultaneously, a delegation of 16 English teachers and educators from New Taipei City visited the United States from October 25 to November 7, 2026. The group met with retired New York City public school principal Molly Wang at the New York Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Service Center to discuss bilingual teaching practices. The delegation also engaged with public schools in New Jersey. These exchanges aim to shift English instruction from exam-oriented reading and writing toward practical listening and speaking skills, while exploring potential international student partnership programs.
