New Taipei City hosts Hakka Yimin Festival

The New Taipei City Hakka Yimin Festival has officially commenced at New Taipei City Plaza. The event includes traditional rituals such as the procession to welcome the deity, the installation ceremony, and various religious rites.

To modernize the tradition, the festival incorporates contemporary elements including performances by Golden Melody Award-winning singer Luo Wen-yu and the musical group Jina Guanzi. The event also features a youth-led initiative through the ‘Hakka Youth Think Tank,’ where 105 young people serve as hosts, judges, and participants to ensure cultural continuity.

Designed as a family-friendly event, the festival includes creative markets, Hakka culinary tastings, and interactive workshops. A major highlight scheduled for the following day is the ‘Thousand-Person Carrying Ceremony Parade,’ which expects to involve between 3,000 and 4,000 participants.
