New Taipei City hosts indigenous ‘ina Ganji Qu’ market
The New Taipei City Indigenous Affairs Bureau hosted the inaugural ‘ina Ganji Qu’ market at New Taipei Yuanli Plaza. The event brought fresh produce and traditional culinary wisdom from indigenous tribal farms directly to the urban environment.
In addition to fresh vegetables, the market featured ten stalls offering indigenous specialty dishes and handicrafts. A highlight of the event was the ‘ina Hao La’ DIY workshop, where participants learned traditional Amis (Pangcah) pickling techniques using fresh bird's eye chilies. The activity aimed to introduce the public to the indigenous philosophy of living in harmony with nature.
Siku Yaway Lin Wei-qian, Director of the New Taipei City Indigenous Affairs Bureau, stated that the market serves as a cultural platform for exchange between indigenous people and urban residents. Following the success of the first event, the next market is scheduled for October 31 at the Sanchong Indigenous Theme Park.
