New Taipei City implements relief for construction and manufacturing sectors

The New Taipei City Government has launched several relief measures to support local businesses facing economic challenges, including labor shortages, rising material costs, and international trade pressures.

To assist the construction sector, the city will automatically extend the validity of building and miscellaneous permits by two years for those issued between January 1 and December 31, 2026. This measure aims to mitigate delays caused by a significant shortage of construction workers and increasing raw material prices.

Additionally, the city is waiving the 2026 management and operation fees for regulated and specific factories. Businesses that have already paid these fees can choose to have the amount credited toward 2027 fees or apply for a refund. These financial relief efforts are intended to help companies prioritize investments in facility improvements, fire safety, and legal compliance amid shifting global trade policies and tariff pressures.
