New Taipei City improves OHCA recovery rate to 12.15%
New Taipei City has reported a significant increase in the out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) recovery rate, rising from 3.1% in 2010 to 12.15% as of June 2026. The city's Fire Department attributes this improvement to the advancement of emergency medical services and the integration of professional medical capabilities into the field.
Key initiatives include the deployment of high-level paramedic support teams (EMT-P+), the use of intelligent ambulances, and the expansion of the 'Doctor Car' program in collaboration with Far Eastern Memorial Hospital. The city is also focusing on 'medical advancement,' which includes implementing pre-hospital blood transfusions for trauma patients and establishing mechanisms for early ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) deployment to improve survival rates for critical patients.
