New Taipei City launches online pet registration de-registration service
New Taipei City has launched a first-of-its-kind online service for pet registration de-registration, allowing owners to manage pet records digitally without visiting a physical counter or mailing paper documents. The new system enables owners to complete de-registration when a pet passes away, update registration information, and file exemptions for sterilization requirements online.
To encourage the use of the system and ensure accurate animal management data, the New Taipei City Government Animal Protection and Quarantine Division is offering an incentive program. Residents who complete online de-registration through the system can participate in a lucky draw to win New Taipei Coin credits, with a total prize pool of 80,000 points.
The initiative aims to improve the accuracy of government records regarding dog and cat populations, which is essential for lost pet recovery and public health management. Under the Animal Protection Act, owners are required to chip and register specific pets, and failure to comply with sterilization or registration regulations can result in fines ranging from NT$50,000 to NT$250,000.
