New Taipei City Parking Lot Shooting Leaves No Injuries
On the night of August 3, 2026, a man identified by the surname Ko followed a man named Li into a parking lot in Xinzhang District, New Taipei City, and fired five rounds into the air and toward the ground. The incident, linked to a debt‑related dispute, caused no injuries and no by‑standers were harmed.
After the shooting, Ko drove away but returned to the Danfeng police station in New Taipei City and voluntarily surrendered his firearm. Police recovered five shell casings, seized the weapon, and opened an investigation for attempted murder and violations of Taiwan’s weapons‑control laws. A special task force has been established to probe the motive and the source of the gun.
