New Taipei City promotes local seafood and sustainable fishing

The New Taipei City Fisheries Department has launched the ‘Gongliao Abalone Fish Education Course’ as part of its ‘New Taipei Hai-pai’ series. The program, scheduled for several dates in November, aims to promote local seafood products and marine sustainability. Through guided tours, practical experiences, and culinary demonstrations, participants will learn about the cultivation of Gongliao abalone, the local fishing industry, and the importance of sustainable marine resource management.

In conjunction with these efforts, culinary venues including the Far Eastern Shangri-La and local restaurants like Wang Yue Lou are highlighting regional seafood. These initiatives emphasize the use of sustainable fishing methods, such as friendly cage fishing for Wanli crabs, to support the North Coast's local fishing industry and promote the connection between marine environments and local food culture.
