New Taipei City promotes sports technology to build a smart healthy city

The New Taipei City Government is promoting the integration of technology and sports to develop a smart, healthy city for all ages. During the ‘Tech New Experience · New Taipei Industry Future’ event, the Economic Development Bureau showcased innovations from 21 technology companies, including AI image recognition, smart wearables, health monitoring, and drone soccer.

New Taipei City boasts a high regular exercise rate of 85.4%, representing over 3.4 million active residents. This large population creates a significant market for health technology. The city also possesses a robust industrial foundation with over 6,100 ICT companies and 10,000 precision health industry companies, forming a complete ecosystem for research, manufacturing, and services.

To facilitate the adoption of these technologies, the city has invested 23 billion TWD in 20 national sports centers and is implementing digital tools in schools and community centers. The ‘New Taipei Move Health APP’ has already surpassed 500,000 members, serving as a model for connecting health data with urban services.
